Chasing an Unattainable Standard

My photographic growth and process are ever changing, ever evolving adventures. As I’ve been working on the “Social Beauty” project I’ve always felt it was a working title. I needed a name to define it but it never seemed to embody the true idea of the study.   The new name “Chasing an Unattainable Standard” seems to speak more to what my original thought for this project examines. The idea that we are always faced with images and ideas that we must look a certain way, that we are not beautiful enough. These ideas are judgements based on our package, our outer shell. When our true beauty is inside our hearts.

Recently I had the pleasure of working with my friend Julia on some underwater photography in her pool. We have been wanting to do this for a couple of years now and finally go to it. So here’s some new work from this session, for inclusion in this project. Some of it is going in a bit of a different direction, but I like the change up.

If you would like to see the entire project to date you can find it here at “Chasing An Unattainable Standard”.

Any and all feedback is always appreciated. I’d love to hear what you think of this project.
